So I was sitting in the car waiting for my brother to come from in the mall. He came back and was laughing (to me for no apperent reason, I just thought he was being stupid). So I asked him, why are you laughing, and he said "your generation is wack". I said that your generation is not that far from ours. He said "true, but the clothes that is being worn is not the same that we use to wear before". I agreeded, but thats the new generation.
The whole conversation was about a boy that he saw in the mall with the tightest straight-leged pants on. Now I can understand why he laughed, because sometimes they do look alittle extra with the stuff they wear. Then again it can look nice also. The whole point is that the clothes that we wear today is completly different then what we use to wear around my freshman year. Do we get influenced by what we see on tv, in the music videos, what we see other people wear. Or do we just follow our own thing and wear what we want and not just what we see?

This same scenario has kinda happened to me before. My parents always make fun of me because i like the style of ripped jeans. I do think that people mostly teenagers get influenced by what they see in the media. I think people will always get influenced someway by people. There are however alot of people who do their own thing with their wardrobe and strive to be different.
ReplyDeleteAlthough, there are many people out in the world who do their own thing, I think most people are influenced by other people. People always want to be or look like what they see in the media. Everybody has a favorite actor/actress or singer out there who they try and mirror or act like. I hardly know anyone out there who dresses randomly.
ReplyDeleteIt shouldnt really matter what other people wear its there life there living it how they want to
ReplyDeleteI agree with Clayton. Freedom of choice is a god given right. Even though it does look kinda weird for guys to suck in their packages and wear girl pants, if they paid for the clothes they shouold be able to wear them whenever. People focus way to much on other people, only to keep attention off themselves, it's patheitc.
ReplyDeleteWell,I laugh at them kind of people all the time because i dont understand why people go out their way and time to squeeze in jeans that are to small for them and their pants be tighter than mine? I think there is a problem with that. People (Males) need to realize that them wearing these EXTREMLY tight jeans and PLUS they saggin them on top of that and wear a belt like whats the point? I just dont understand! But hey to each its own. i just prefer my men in jeans that fit him.
ReplyDeletei believe that many people like to stick to their own style but everyone gets a little influence from somewhere else. People like what they like and its neat to see others peoples diverse styles in clothing.
ReplyDeleteI think that people are influenced by their surroundings more than they think. The way we dress is a debate that goes back to the question of nature vs. nurture. Are a born with a certain personality or are we nurtured by our surroundings to conform to it. I think that we are affected by our surroundings greatly. Its true that we do have a choice but we choose to fit in with the crowd and wear what will be accepted by society. No matter how hard you might try to deny this fact its true. The actions we perform aren’t just for ourselves, we do them do other may be able to notice them. We might want to be different from the rest but we want the fact that we’re different to be noticed.
ReplyDeleteEveryone gets influenced by people, and its almost natural that it shows in our choice of clothing. It doesnt always mean that people are striving to look like one another, they just happen to have the same taste.
ReplyDeletethe tight pants trend does seem to be going around these days hasn't it? i remember my freshmen year i wore those type of pants and you know what the funny thing was. i was getting called gay just because i wore those pants. now if you look around how many people do you see wearing those same type of pants. probably the same people who were talking trash or even wearing them. i just think it's kind of ironic how every one will sit there and talk trash about someones style and then start doing the same thing.
ReplyDeleteYes i do believe we get influenced on what we see on TV. I'm not really for guys wearing skinny jeans but that's just my opinion, no offense. I have to say i follow my own thing. i don't really care much of what people say or what they might think, as long as I'm comfortable I'm happy.
ReplyDeletePeoples styles can be influenced by many things such as their friends, the industry or just how the person is. I definitely agree that many peoples way of dressing has changed over the years. For the most part it may be because we teenagers have grown and matured and are more comfortable with wearing different clothes now.
ReplyDeleteIf everyone wore the same clothes, life would be boring. Maybe the people who wear tight jeans think baggy jeans look sloppy. Who cares what other people wear? Seriously. If they are happy with it and they like it then nothing else should matter.
ReplyDeleteI wish style was simple; girls wore dresses and men wore pants. I like femininity and classy clothing, but I feel our generation lacks that. Even if you want to be a nonconformist, it's hard work trying to find a 'different' wardrobe.
